Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Alice Lau instructed government backbencher Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) to retract his remarks during Tuesday’s (Jan 20) debate on the royal address.
Khoo had questioned the whereabouts of fugitive businessman Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, drawing criticism from the Opposition for making baseless accusations.
After a 20-minute shouting match, Khoo retracted his comments about Muhyiddin’s son-in-law and about PAS MPs supporting corruption, following Lau’s firm intervention, allowing the debate to continue.
