Between October and December 2025, authorities took action against 3,604 overloaded heavy vehicles, Transport Minister Anthony Loke told the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Jan 21).
The figures came from a special Road Transport Department enforcement operation conducted from Oct 14 to Dec 31. Loke said serious overloading affects road safety, vehicle stability, braking, and infrastructure.
He also noted a decline in fatal accidents involving heavy vehicles and announced the upcoming rollout of the High Speed-Weigh in Motion (HS-WIM) system, with 10 locations identified and two already operational.
