The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has full authority to act firmly against any officers or staff who breach ethics and integrity, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
He told the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (Jan 21) that the arrest of 29 AKPS personnel over alleged corruption and abuse of power showed the agency does not shield misconduct to protect its image.
Saifuddin added that AKPS works closely with the MACC, police and the Immigration Department to enforce discipline, including dismissal, and said recruitment will be carried out in stages, prioritising high-risk entry points.
