Ukrainian drones struck a Rosneft refinery in Russia hours before a meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky, underscoring military reach during sensitive diplomacy. The Ukraine drone strike hit the Syzran Rosneft refinery in Samara Oblast, roughly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. The attack damaged the main oil-processing unit at a plant with an annual capacity of 7 to 8.9 million tons, according to Ukraine’s General Staff. Ukraine’s military said the operation demonstrated an ability to bypass layered air defenses and reach industrial targets. Officials reported the drones detonated on site and challenged Moscow’s account. The refinery opened in 1942. The General Staff also reported cumulative Russian troop losses at 1,204,510 and said such strikes would continue.
