A police drive to tackle shoplifting has put Teesside "top of the country" for solving thefts, according to a senior officer. Cleveland Police is currently solving around a third of shop thefts, around ten per cent above the national average, a meeting of the Safer Stockton Partnership heard. Officers charged two people with a total of fifty-three shoplifting offences over two days in December 2025.
