Concerns raised over accountability of public officials
Former government officials and citizens raised concerns over stalled infrastructure, flood control projects, and alleged misuse of healthcare and insurance funds at a government accountability forum. Ex-congressman Mike Defensor said impeachment was the only constitutional way to hold a sitting president accountable, citing unprogrammed appropriations that could total P2 trillion from 2022 to 2025 and alleging that portions were diverted to 'ghost projects.' Defensor also criticized the use of PhilHealth and Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation funds, saying the alleged diversions weakened healthcare and financial safety nets. He linked mismanaged budgets to delays in major infrastructure projects, warning of possible loan penalties and long-term economic costs. Other panelists, include former Cebu City mayor Mike Rama, former Lapu-Lapu City mayor Paz Radaza, former Talisay City vice mayor Alan Bucao, and former DILG undersecretary Lito Ruiz.
