Sharks: myths vs reality
Close your eyes and imagine the word shark. Sharp teeth. Dark water. Fear.
That image has been sold to us for decades but today, let’s pause and ask:
Myth: Sharks are mindless killers that attack humans all the time.
Reality: Humans are not on a shark’s menu. Shark attacks are extremely rare. In fact, you are far more likely to be injured by a car, lightning, or even a vending machine than by a shark.
Myth: All sharks are dangerous.
Reality: Out of more than 500 shark species, only a handful are considered potentially risky to humans. Many sharks are small, shy, and feed on plankton—like the gentle whale shark, the largest fish in the ocean.
Myth: Sharks are bad for the ocean.
Reality: Sharks are actually guardians of the sea. As top predators, they keep ocean ecosystems balanced by controlling fish populations and maintaining healthy coral reefs.
Here’s the truth we don’t hear enough: Sharks are not a threat to humans but humans are a serious threat to sharks. Over 100 million sharks are killed every year due to overfishing, finning, and pollution. Without sharks, ocean life collapses. And without healthy oceans, life on Earth suffers including us. Protecting sharks means protecting food security, livelihoods, and the planet’s future. So next time you hear the word shark, think balance not fear. Share the truth. Respect the ocean. Protect its guardians.
Because when sharks survive, the ocean thrives and so do we. #FacebookPage #facebookreels #facebookreelsviral #facebookviral #facebookpostシ #lifeunderwater #waterlife #biodegradable #youth #life #lifestyle #Dailymotion #youth #dailymotivation #dailyinspiration #Dailymotion #FacebookPage #facebookviral #facebookreel #facebookreels #facebookreelsviral #childhood #sharks #lifeunderwater #children
