As of the week of Feb 2nd, 2026, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner has officially upgraded the status of the investigation, ruling Alex’s death a homicide. The report confirms he died from multiple gunshot wounds sustained during an encounter with agents during "Operation Metro Surge." Evidence, including bystander video, suggests Alex was acting as a protector—intervening to help a woman pushed by agents—before he was tackled and killed while unarmed.
Alex was a dedicated caregiver, described by colleagues as a kindhearted soul"who spent his life serving American veterans. He was last seen in the Whittier neighborhood, near 26th and Nicollet, recording the federal operation to ensure the safety of his community.
