Rare phantom jellyfish sighting in Argentina's deep sea

A rare phantom jellyfish exploring the deep sea in the South Atlantic Ocean has been spotted by scientists from the Schmidt Ocean Institute. Stygiomedusa gigantea, more commonly known as the giant phantom jellyfish, was filmed 250 metres below the surface near Argentina.The jellyfish do not have stinging tentacles but use their arms to catch prey, including plankton and small fish. Their bell can grow up to one metre in diameter and their arms can reach up to 10 metres long.
