28 जनवरी की सुबह बारामती एयरपोर्ट के पास महाराष्ट्र के उपमुख्यमंत्री अजीत पवार के चार्टर्ड Learjet-45 विमान का भयावह क्रैश CCTV कैमरे में कैद हुआ है। फुटेज में विमान लैंडिंग के अंतिम प्रयासों में अनियंत्रित होकर तेजी से नीचे गिरता है और तुरंत विशाल आग का गोला व धुआँ उठता हुआ दिखता है, जिससे हादसे की भयावहता साफ़ झलकती है।
इस हादसे में अजीत पवार समेत विमान में सवार सभी पाँच लोगों की मौत हो गई। घने कोहरे व visibility की चुनौतियाँ लैंडिंग के समय प्रमुख कारण बताए जा रहे हैं, लेकिन परिवार ने कई संदेह व सवाल उठाए हैं। उनके भतीजे रोहित पवार ने विमान के रख-रखाव, ट्रांसपोंडर आउट होने और साज़िश की संभावना तक जाँच की मांग की है। घटना के बाद DGCA ने सभी नॉन-शेड्यूल्ड ऑपरेटरों की सुरक्षा ऑडिट शुरू की है और जांच आगे बढ़ रही है।
