Malaysia must be governed by the rule of law, not by “whims and fancy”, while upholding mutual respect in its multiethnic and multireligious society, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the ACCCIM Lunar New Year reception on Wednesday (Feb 11), Anwar said social stability must rest on legal principles and proper institutional processes, warning against emotional, pressured or unilateral actions that could undermine national unity.
He also stressed the need to respect religious beliefs and cultural practices, including sensitivities over food, saying Malaysia’s long-standing tradition of coexistence must be preserved through understanding and restraint.
