Community groups will be consulted as part of a study on the possibility of holding elections for the Kuala Lumpur Mayor, says Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Lo Su Fui.
He told the Dewan Rakyat that inclusive feedback is crucial to better assess the proposal, following questions on representation and women’s participation in city governance.
The government is also taking note of the Public Accounts Committee’s proposal to appoint DBKL council members to strengthen checks and balances.
