Assam के Moran में प्रधानमंत्री Narendra Modi ने Northeast India का पहला highway-based Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) उद्घाटन किया।इस facility को विशेष रूप से emergencies में Indian Air Force के fighter jets और transport aircrafts के लिए तैयार किया गया है।PM Modi खुद Hercules C-130 J aircraft पर उतरकर इस runway की ताकत और महत्व दिखा रहे हैं।Event में IAF के कई combat aircrafts जैसे Sukhoi 30 MKI, Rafale और Advanced Light Helicopter का fly-past भी हुआ।Sukhoi और Rafale जैसे frontline jets ने सीधे highway ELF पर landing की, जिससे वहां मौजूद जनता में massive उत्साह देखने को मिला।PM Modi ने कहा कि Moran ELF Northeast की growing strength और infrastructure का प्रतीक है।National security के लिहाज से यह ELF खासकर China factor के बीच strategic importance रखता है।LAC के पास India के IAF bases vulnerable हो सकते हैं, इसलिए alternative landing facilities की जरूरत बहुत अहम है।चार-lane ELF project 2021 में conceptualise हुआ और 2025 में पूरा किया गया, जिससे Northeast की सुरक्षा और connectivity दोनों मजबूत हुई हैं।
