Mexico closed 2025 with the lowest unemployment rate among OECD member countries, at 2.6%, nearly half the organization’s average of 5%. According to the OECD, overall unemployment across its members has remained relatively stable since April 2022. Mexico also recorded the third lowest youth unemployment rate at 5.7%, while countries such as Sweden, Spain, Chile, and Finland exceeded 20%, meaning one in five young people is unemployed. In comparison, the U.S. registered a 4.4% unemployment rate with youth unemployment at 10.45%, and Canada reported 6.8% overall and 13.3% youth unemployment.
