Dennis — Hyperthalamus 1975 (Germany, Krautrock, Jazz, Space Rock)
In early 1973, former Frumpy members Carsten Bohn and Thomas Kretschmer, along with Manne Rörup (ex-Tommorrow's Gift) and Klaus Briest (ex-Xhol), formed a band named after Bohn's recently born son. The group lived and rehearsed in an old village school near Hamburg. They were soon joined by Michael Kobs, Willi Pape (ex-Thirsty Moon), Olaf Cassalich (ex-Ougenweide), and Jim Wiley. This lineup recorded the album Hyperthalamus—a primarily instrumental, progressive jazz-rock album with a lot of improvisation—one of the best records in this style. Unfortunately, the group was short-lived and soon disbanded.
