A forest department team was allegedly attacked by members of the mining mafia while attempting to stop illegal mining in the Ransali Range of Sitarganj in Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand.
The incident occurred near the Kailash River area, where a forest patrol team spotted three tractor-trailers being loaded with illegally mined minerals. When officials sought documents from those present at the site, the accused allegedly turned violent.
According to reports, three personnel, including Forest Inspector Nand Kishore Pandey, were assaulted. It is also alleged that the attackers attempted to run over a forest officer with a tractor during the confrontation.
Based on a complaint filed by the forest ranger, police have registered a case against three accused, including a father-son duo, and launched an investigation.
The incident has drawn attention as it took place in Udham Singh Nagar, the home district of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A video purportedly showing the clash between officials and the alleged mining mafia has gone viral on social media.
Legal proceedings are underway, and further action is expected based on the outcome of the investigation.
