Information leaks from within the Road Transport Department (JPJ) have repeatedly undermined enforcement operations against overloaded lorries, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
In a special interview with The Star on Wednesday (Feb 25), Loke voiced full support for the recent arrests of several JPJ officers and “tontos” — informants who tip off offenders — following a joint operation by Road Transport Department and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He stressed that the ministry views the matter seriously and is committed to cleaning up the department to ensure enforcement efforts are not compromised.
