In Chile, the death toll from the explosion of a gas-loaded truck in the municipality of Renca, northwest of Santiago, rose to twelve after a patient who remained in critical condition died. The ministry of health authorities indicated that the patients are being treated in a combined network of public and private centers under reserved prognosis. The accident, which occurred on February 19 in the middle of the highway, was allegedly caused by a leak in the fuel system, generating a column of fire and smoke visible throughout the metropolitan region.
