In Chile, the death toll from the explosion of a gas-loaded truck in the municipality of Renca, northwest of Santiago, rose to twelve after a patient who remained in critical condition died. The under-secretary of healthcare networks reported that nine people remain hospitalized, five of whom are in critical condition due to the severity of their burns. The ministry of health authorities indicated that the patients are being treated in a combined network of public and private centers under reserved prognosis. The accident, which occurred on February 19 in the middle of the highway, was allegedly caused by a leak in the fuel system, generating a column of fire and smoke visible throughout the metropolitan region.
