The second official preview of the sequel shows the return of iconic fighters and the rise of Shao Kahn. The new official trailer for Mortal Kombat II presents the next cinematic escalation of the legendary video game series and focuses on the brutal battle for the fate of Earthrealm.
The story brings the familiar champions together once again, this time reinforced by Johnny Cage, who must face the ultimate battle against the dark rule of Shao Kahn.
The images focus on plenty of story and uncompromising action, showing the fighters asserting themselves in a merciless battle that threatens the entire realm.
The cast centers on Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, flanked by Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, and Damon Herriman.
The ensemble is rounded out by Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada, who once again plays Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.
The return of these characters underscores the film's close connection to the iconic roots of the series and gives Mortal Kombat II a strong sense of continuity.
Director Simon McQuoid returns to take creative charge, following up on his explosive 2021 screen debut. The screenplay is written by Jeremy Slater and based on the video game universe created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.
