Groundstar – Forced Landing 1978 (USA, Hard Rock, AOR)
The band hails from Fresno, California. They played a very interesting, bombastic hard rock/AOR sound. Their debut album, "Forced Landing," was released in 1978 on Stellar Records and was self-financed. The band's songs are very melodic and beautiful, especially the ballads. Shrill vocals (male and female), harsh guitar riffs, pompous, often pulsating keyboards with regular touches of progressive tendencies—that's how their music can be broadly characterized. A second album was planned for the band, but these plans were never realized, as the group broke up. After Groundstar's breakup, Sharon Jordan, along with her husband, Jerry Leal (ex-Electric Eels), played in the bands The Heritage and Eves Burden.
