Hideki Ishima — One Day 1973 (Japan, Hard, Progressive Rock)
A solo album by the Japanese musician, who played in the well-known Flower Travellin' Band. Here, Ishima takes a calmer, more balanced approach to music. This work is more like a moderate blues-rock with psychedelic elements and brief forays into psychedelia and progressive rock. The compositions are strong, the performances excellent. The virtuoso guitarist is accompanied by his trusted collaborators: his Flower Travellin' Band colleague, drummer Joji Wada, vocalist and harpist Ken Narita (formerly The Beavers), keyboardist Katsuo Ohno (formerly The Spiders), and other professionals. Ishima sings (mostly in English, with the exception of the final track), and also handles bass.
