Earlier this week, Taiwanese legislator Lin Chien-chi represented Taiwan in the sailboat event at the Open Masters Games in Abu Dhabi.
Lin says her Indigenous Amis heritage is part of why she has been sailing for five years and loves the sport. As a traditionally seafaring people, the Amis are known for their ocean sports culture, like spearfishing, bamboo rafting and fishing.
“I hope that by participating in this sport, I can connect with the ocean and promote the Amis community’s ocean sports culture,” Lin said.
