लोकसभा के बजट सत्र के बीच विपक्ष ने लोकसभा स्पीकर Om Birla के खिलाफ अविश्वास प्रस्ताव का नोटिस दिया है। Rahul Gandhi के नेतृत्व वाले INDIA ब्लॉक के 118 सांसदों ने आरोप लगाया है कि स्पीकर निष्पक्ष नहीं रहे और सदन में विपक्ष की आवाज दबाई गई। All India Trinamool Congress ने भी अब विपक्ष का समर्थन कर दिया है।
संविधान के अनुच्छेद 94 के अनुसार स्पीकर को हटाने के लिए 14 दिन पहले नोटिस और सदन में बहुमत की जरूरत होती है। लोकसभा में कुल 543 सदस्य हैं, इसलिए प्रस्ताव पास होने के लिए कम से कम 272 वोट चाहिए। वर्तमान में National Democratic Alliance के पास स्पष्ट बहुमत है, इसलिए स्पीकर को हटाना लगभग असंभव माना जा रहा है।
चर्चा के दौरान स्पीकर सदन की अध्यक्षता नहीं कर सकते। Narendra Modi ने भी ओम बिरला का समर्थन किया है, जिससे यह मुद्दा राजनीतिक टकराव का केंद्र बन गया है।
During the budget session of the Lok Sabha, the opposition has submitted a no-confidence notice against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. A total of 118 MPs from the INDIA bloc, led by Rahul Gandhi, have alleged that the Speaker has not remained impartial and that the opposition’s voice has been suppressed in the House. The All India Trinamool Congress has also extended its support to the opposition on this issue.
According to Article 94 of the Constitution, removing the Speaker requires a notice at least 14 days in advance and a majority vote in the House. Since the Lok Sabha has 543 members, at least 272 votes are required for the motion to pass. However, the National Democratic Alliance currently holds a clear majority, making the removal of the Speaker highly unlikely.
During the discussion on such a motion, the Speaker cannot preside over the House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also publicly supported Om Birla, turning the issue into a major political confrontation in Parliament.
