Watch as a animal rescuer helps abandoned pets find safety and new homes after being left alone on the streets of Chile.
Luis Martínez Miranda, from Santiago de Chile, shared emotional moments from his rescue work in Melipilla, an area he says has become a worrying hotspot for animal abandonment.
In one clip, a tiny puppy suddenly appears from among roadside branches as he drives past. When he stops and steps out of the car, the frightened animal hides until he gently speaks in a playful “silly voice” to gain its trust.
The pup eventually approaches and is safely rescued, beginning a new chapter away from the streets.
Another part of the story follows Mayita, a dog who had spent weeks locked away and initially refused to go outside or interact with people.
Just one week after being adopted, however, she is already bursting with happiness, helped greatly by her calm greyhound sister who has gently guided her recovery.
The rescuer also shared the remarkable story of Osito, a dog abandoned by his original family and cared for by neighbours for four years before a devastating fire destroyed their homes.
