Young's father left his Chicago family after his wife's death. Consequently Victor (1900-1956) was raised by his grandparents in Poland, who let him study the violin at the Warsaw Conservatory. At the outbreak of WW1, he returned to Chicago where he had his American debut. There followed a succession of jobs, and during the early 20's, he toured as a violinist. He worked in LA as a concert-master in a film theater orchestra. He then did the same in Chicago's Central Park Theater. Around this time, he decided to abandon classical music and make his career in popular song. Later in the 20's, he worked for Fio Rito's band as violinist and arranger. During the 30's, Young did a lot of radio work, conducting for many stars (S. Bellew, Al Jolson etc). In 1935, he returned to LA and formed his own orchestra. He would continue a successful career as a musician, arranger, songwriter and film score composer till his untimely death. This great record was made in 1933. Vocal by Scrappy Lambert.
