Kabul began to suffer growing damage from mujahed attacks with rising casualties among civilians.
Thousands of civilians have been kiiled and wounded particularly during the brutal assaults in late 1993 and early 1994.Following even more bitter fighting, the Taliban finally moved into Kabul in September 1996.
2001, in early January, the Taliban attacked the snow-covered villages of Yakaolang, Bamiyan province and defeated the Party of Islamic Unity that had controlled that region until then. The Taliban dragged over 300 men from their homes and killed nearly all of them.
