Brighton and Hove Neighbourhood Care Scheme has been named as a finalist in the 'Best Voluntary/Charity Project Category' of the National Lottery Awards 2010. The awards recognise the amazing work being done by lottery-funded groups across the UK. The aim is to highlight the significant difference that projects - both large and small - make to communities everywhere and to celebrate the achievements of the people behind them.
The Neighbourhood Care Scheme helps older people and people with physical disabilities by recruiting local volunteers to support them in a variety of ways such as social visits, odd jobs and paperwork. The scheme creates positive connections between neighbours, thus helping to build more caring local communities.
