A video rendering by Mon-tag from the project entitled "1984 Complex: Mon-tag's Love". Last night I'd planned to shoot a short video for this verse I wrote a while ago called "Michael's Faith". Walking back to the house I happened pass this flat screen television sitting right out in the road. Someone tossed it. Looked in a good shape. I wondered if it would come on. I need a new monitor for the computer I do most of my work on. Got it home and of course the screen had been damaged but not so much that it couldn't be used for something interesting. Since I was doing this MJ song and the first line is, 'I'm just a man in the mirror, wanna get out' it would be great to shoot a scene and replay it through the broken screen, something sorta like a broken mirror. Well in handling the monitor I managed to damage it even further, cutting off more of the large screen. No matter, I still used it and was able to take advantage of the destroyed screen as seen in the very beginning with the lines of color that seem to be moving. If it isn't completely obvious I was going for a very eighties look. Not exactly Max Headroom but a feeling related to that idea and the vibe of VHS and film. If you do not know it already I am very attached to analog, while appreciating the marvels of digital technology, but even still a bit 'bothered' by the exchange and relation between the two. There are things that do not exist any longer that I grew to love and appreciate coming up. Distributed by Tubemogul.
