A NE-45 neon bulb's electrodes flicker alternately to ambient sound. The circuit is based around a LF347 quad op amp. This single IC, amplifies the audio from the mic, generates the 150V high voltage, and PWM the neon's electrodes with complimentary duty cycles, so the glow bounces back between them, in step with the audio.
