The owner of a bagel shop in Brooklyn is joining the hype ahead of this weekend's New York Jets game.
Warren Bell, the owner of "Bagels by Bell" in Brooklyn has pledged to give away one million free dough rings. But his baked goods are green, the colour of his favourite American football team.
Bell decided to manufacture the one million green bagels ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which will decide who moves on to the Super Bowl.
Bell used food colouring to turn his bagels a moss-green and says the doughy delights taste exactly the same as the regular-coloured variety.
"It turned out to be a real fun thing...it cost me a couple of dollars, but I'll tell you the truth: we're having a ball with it," Bell said.
The last time the Jets won the Super Bowl was in 1968, with their most successful team ever, marked by quarterback Joe Namath. They beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7.
