Jolly Coburn & His Orchestra - Irresistible

Surprisingly, I found very little information about this orchestra. He seems to be best remembered for having pioneered, in the early 1930s, in using the theremin (an electronic musical instrument similar to the equally poorly known ondes martenot) in his band. It is also known Coburn went to open the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center (New York), and that he worked in the vaudeville circuit well into the 1930s. He also was the first dance band leader to hire a harp player. As for the theremin, he regularly featured this unusual instrument in live radio broadcasts from Manhattan's Riverside Inn, in the mid-thirties. Unfortunately, I could find no additional information about Coburn's career, although he seems to have quite a few records during that period. As for this wonderful song, it was recorded in 1934, with an exquisite vocal by Harold Van Emburgh.
