Landon Donovan: Pacy, creative player who flourishes in space. Lacks the one-on-one moves to beat a defender consistently, but uses the ball intelligently and excels on the counter attack. Has improved his set-piece delivery.
Giorgio Chiellini: Rugged physical defender who can play centrally or at left back. Competent in all phases of the game with no weaknesses.
Yaya Toure: Huge presence in midfield who protects the defense and is an aerial force as well. Complements offense with powerful surging runs.
Philipp Lahm: Has no peers when it comes to attacking from the fullback spot. Raids forward with pace, verve and can beat defenders on the dribble. Slight of frame, however, and can be outmuscled on the ball at times by physical attackers.
Daniele De Rossi: Accomplished defensive midfielder who can also provide link play with the forwards and support the offense with his long-range shooting ability.
