Caltha palustris or Marsh Marigold is a spring-time blooming high Himalayan meadow flowering plant. It is commonly seen in the alpine meadows of Garhwal and Kumaon in Uttarakhand. Here, however, it is seen in a high altitude desert meadow in Spiti, with a stream flowing behind. It loves the vicinity of flowing water and prefers small streams and marshes / bogs in the Himalaya!
