Most dog attacks take place at home, against the dog’s own family members or visitors. To hold a dog’s owner liable, you must be able to show that the owner knew the dog might pose a threat but failed to protect victims, or that the owner took some unreasonably dangerous action that led to the attack. In some cases, you do not need to prove that the dog had shown signs of viciousness or had a prior propensity to bite before.
