Throngs of people load up on trains at first light in Bangladesh... hoping to catch a ride back to their village to celebrate the Muslim holy day of Eid al-Adha.
Thousands vie for a spot on the roof, or drape themselves precariously out the windows.
Every year, Muslims in the capital Dhaka do their best to get back to family and friends, by any means possible.
Sea travel presents a similar scenario.
Most boats are packed to the brim with people who have been waiting until the last minute to head home.
And because the port is so crowded, many people take smaller wooden boats out to board the passing ferries.
In the world's most populous Muslim country, Indonesians began the holy day with prayers.
Also known as the "Feast of Sacrifice", Eid al-Adha is celebrated by butchering livestock, the meat of which is shared amongst family, friends, and the poor.
According to Muslim belief, the ritual celebrates the prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice son's life to show his commitment to Allah. Because of his devotion to God, Muslims believe Allah sent Ibrahim a ram to sacrifice instead.
90 percent of Indonesia's 220 million people are Muslim.
