The Who's Who of Hollywood, Spain and fashion descend on New York to honor Pedro Almodóvar.
The Museum of Modern Art paid tribute to the award-winning writer and director at their fourth annual Film Benefit.
With a career that includes 18 films over 30 years, Almodóvar called the honor a marvelous privilege.
SOUNDBITE: Pedro Almodóvar, director, saying (Spanish):
"Twenty-seven years ago the film institute that MOMA has picked one of my movies and it was the first time it was seen in the United States and from that point they began to buy them and regularly distribute them. So, I am very grateful to this institution and on the other hand it is a place where I come regularly when I am in New York so it is very emotional and I am very grateful as you can see."
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and designer Karl Lagerfeld led the evening's festivities, which resulted in many of the famous attendees being dressed in Chanel.
Lagerfeld, who has supplied clothes for several of Almodóvar's films said the Spanish director's movies have a certain spirit.

"I like the mood that he creates - that's very different from my own mood, but I think he does it beautifully."

The Film Benefit raises funds to ensure that works of cinema continue to join the museum's collection.
