For the seventh straight year, the event was hosted by Douglas and his wife Anne. They were joined by hundreds of volunteers from the entertainment industry, government, local businesses, and community members.
Bee Gee Robin Gibb says on his website that he is recovering from a serious illness. The star says he has been "very unwell" but is now "on the road to recovery." Gibb's extremely gaunt appearance and the cancellation of several public appearances have sparked fears that he is seriously ill. George Clooney will be called as a defense witness at former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's trial on charges he paid for sex with a minor, court officials said Wednesday (November 23). Berlusconi's defense has called Clooney as a witness because the woman involved said she had seen the actor at one of Berlusconi's parties. The trial was adjourned until December 2 and it was not clear when Clooney would take to the witness stand.
British singer George Michael has postponed a series of concerts after falling ill with pneumonia. The 48-year-old former Wham! frontman called off a planned gig in Vienna on Monday and another in Strasbourg on Wednesday, and now his Cardiff dates have been put on hold.
Nicki Minaj has been named Billboard's "Rising Star" for 2011, ending a year that has seen the hip-hop star top the charts with her massive-selling "Pink Friday" album and earn a pair of trophies at the American Music Awards, winning for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album. Minaj became the first female rapper in a decade to top the Billboard 200.
