Dilfuza struggles as an HIV-positive woman in Tajikistan's strict, male-dominated society. Dilfuza didn't realise that her husband had been diagnosed as HIV positive some years ago, but hadn't told her. Even though her mother-in-law knew about her son's infection she was unable to accept Dilfuza. In Tajikistan HIV rates for 15 to 49-year-olds have tripled since 2001. Christian Aid's partners are working in Tajikistan to tackle discrimination, prevent HIV and increase access to health services and legal support.
