Fourteen-year-old Rebecca Black has had quite a year.
It all started in March when her music video "Friday" went viral, turning the teen into a global household name.

"It was just shock and I was confused and I was kind of scared but happy at the same time. I don't know, it was kind of liking taking every emotion and putting it in a bottle."
Even though the video became the most watched video on Youtube in 2011, amassing more than 170 million views, the clip generated mainly negative reviews.
Black says the backlash was tough to deal with at first, but quickly got over it.

"It's just not worth it to spend your time reading all of these pointless things people are saying about you, especially if you don't know them and you're never going to see them, and what I've learned, this is kind of like my motto, is that a moment spent not smiling is a moment wasted, so I don't look at it and I don't focus on it anymore."
Things got even better for Black when her idol Katy Perry tapped her to be in her music video.
SOUNDBITE: Rebecca Black, singer, saying (English):
"Being in a Katy Perry video was so reassuring because it was during a time through where I was going through a lot of negativity and it was kind of taking a toll so to have one of your big inspirations and idols support you, it's very reassuring."
In the new year, the singer will be voicing a lead character in the English remake of Chinese animated film "Bunny Fu" and also hopes to release more music.
