Two people have drowned in Fiji, after widespread flooding hit the southern Pacific archipelago.
Hundreds were forced to flee their homes, after five-foot-deep floodwaters closed roads on the island nation.
The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation said soldiers had rescued a group of tourists trapped in the deluge and took them to the airport.
Tourists arriving back in New Zealand said some people had only just arrived when they were forced to evacuate.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED TOURIST, SAYING:
"Poor buggers, they arrived at Fiji and just said 'Oh, well, you can't go to your accommodation. We'll reimburse your hotel, you've got to fly out on the next flight."
Meteorologists said more flooding is likely, as heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue.
