In preparation for a meeting between Prime Minister Olmert and PA President Abbas, Israel will present the Palestinian leader with a package to strengthen his stand. It includes releasing 250 Palestinian security prisoners, allowing DFLP head Nayaf Hawatmeh to attend a meeting of the Palestinian Executive council in Ramallah and a guarantee not to pursue or arrest 180 Palestinian Fatah fugitives in the West Bank.It remains to be seen whether Israel will regret the gestures made to strengthen Abu Mazen's government.07/15/07
