US President Barack Obama has marked the anniversary of Osama bin Laden's death by making a surprise trip to Bagram airbase near Kabul.
As well as meeting the troops, the president also signed a strategic partnership pact with President Hamid Kazai setting out a long term US role in Afghanistan.
The visit included a prime time television address to the American people.
