Serb right wing vies for power in polls.

Serbs go to the polls in knife-edge elections marked by an unprecedented pro- European consensus.

Serbia's right-wing opposition, the populist Serbian Progressive Party led by Tomislav Nikolic has a narrow lead in the polls over liberal incumbent Boris Tadic.

But no party will win an outright majority in the parliamentary vote with analysts predicting Tadic's Democratic Party will retain power.

The Socialist Party of Slobodan Milosevic, who died in 2006, is polling third and likely to emerge as kingmaker.

Since Milosevic, Serbia has swayed between supporting pro-Western liberals and pro-Russian nationalists.
