German Chancellor Angela Merkel says the new Greek government must stick to its commitments made to international lenders
She also said the troika of the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund should head to Athens quickly to discuss the situation.
(SOUNDBITE) (German) GERMAN CHANCELLOR, ANGELA MERKEL, SAYING:
"We need to ensure now that the troika will very quickly go to Athens. We agreed on a Greece program and the framework needs to be adhered to. This means that we must be sure that Greece sticks to its commitments."
Speaking to reporters at a Group of 20 meeting in Mexico, Merkel said changing any reform pledges would be unacceptable.

"We will of course discuss with Greece whether Greece can participate in additional growth impetuses within the framework of our growth program designed for the entire European Union. But this changes nothing for the framework conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding, the program which we voted on in the German Bundestag" (parliament).
Greece's new conservative leader pushed on Monday for a new coalition government after a narrow election victory, pledging to soften the debt-laden country's punishing austerity program despite opposition from Germany.
