STORY: Former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, was released from jail on $1 million bail.
Initially, Zimmerman had been freed on a $150,000 bond, but a Florida judge said he believed Zimmerman and his wife were intending to flee the country.
Zimmerman's official website claims that a legal defense fund set up in his name raised the necessary funds for him to be granted bond a second time.
He is now fitted with an electronic monitoring device.
