In this video we are listening to a member of New Democracy (Νέα Δημοκρατία), the Greek right-wing, co-governing party. New Democracy and PASOK (ΠΑΣΟΚ) were consecutively in power during the last thirty eight years after the fall of the Greek military junta ( 1967-1974). These two parties are widely regarded as the key- factors to corruption and manipulation of the voters in terms of buying off people’s vote by exploiting their need for a job/ making deals with businessmen within their political circle, usually owners of mass media. Almost two years after the outburst of the Greek debt crisis and the dramatic aggravation of the living standard of the Greek people under the PASOK regime, an illegitimate government of the three parliamentary pro-bailout parties (New Democracy, PASOK and the far-right LAOS) was formed which led the country to general elections. On 6th May the two major parties saw their percentages cumulatively falling down to 31%, indicating a huge loss in comparison to 78% of the previous election. Surprisingly the Coalition of the Radical Left (ΣΥΡΙΖΑ) took almost 17% (4% in 2009) and eventually no government was formed, so a second round of elections took place. Between those two election procedures a campaign of terror was launched by New Democracy and PASOK against the anti-bailout and left parties, especially against SYRIZA, claiming the latter would lead Greece to chaos. In the end, this disgraceful campaign bore fruits and a coalition between ND/PASOK/Democratic Left ( a new “left” party) was formed.Europe's political leaders supported energetically the "resurrection" of Greece's bankrupt political leadership and fought ruthlessly against forming of a left govenment.
This video shows us in a very eloquent way that political immorality and corruption dominates in the governing party. What makes someone angry is the ‘’property-rights’’ the party members claim to have on their former or current voters and the sense that they have bought off the latter’s conscience once and for all.
