Fast moving wildfires in the Pacific Northwest U.S. have engulfed thousands of acres of land.

Officials say at least two dozen buildings and about 2,800 acres have been destroyed in Washington state.

Buildings at a chimpanzee sanctuary have been burned, but officials say the chimps were unharmed.

About 100 people have been displaced by the fire.

In northern California, fires have burned about 7,000 acres so far.

Officials say nearly 1,100 firefighters and more than 130 fire engines are on the scene.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fires is under investigation.
