The governor of Pakistan's Punjab province has been shot dead in the country's capital Islamabad. Police say Salman Taseer was killed by his own bodyguard near a market, as he was getting out of a car. The governor was a senior member of the ruling Pakistan People's Party, and was close to President Asif Ali Zardari. Several other people were wounded during the attack - the suspected assailant was taken into custody.
