'US Empire starts to fold, state systems failed after 9/11'

2011-09-12 22 Dailymotion

Sunday was an emotional day for Americans remembering the victims of the 9/11 attacks exactly 10 years ago. Thousands gathered in New York at the new memorial at Ground Zero, and stood in silence while the names of the 3 thousand people who died were read aloud. Ten years ago terrorists crashed hijacked planes into the twin towers of the World Trade centre in New York and the Pentagon building in Washington DC. One more plane came down in the state of Pennsylvania. The U.S. responded with invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan - for which it was hugely criticized. Author and journalist Afshin Rattansi says Washington's response to the attack was inadequate, and will eventually backfire.
