British pop star Adam Ant kicks off his U.S. tour in Los Angeles on Thursday (September 13).

This is his first U.S. tour in 17 years.

Armed with a new band, new album and fresh tour, the 57-year-old singer-songwriter said he had no problem getting back into the swing of things.

SOUNDBITE: Adam Ant, British pop star, saying (English):

"There were never any nerves. Just over a year ago, I started getting back on stage and doing small venues and playing with some friends and slowly putting the band together. It really doesn't go away; it's like falling off a bike, gladly. I suppose it's what I do so I'm quite happy to do that. I'm really enjoying it now."

During his 1980s heyday, his band Adam and the Ants sold more than 15 million records and enjoyed UK number one hits with the singles "Stand and Deliver" and "Prince Charming."

After taking a long break from the music scene and reportedly battling bipolar disorder, Ant is back, keeping his vision "as simple as possible."
